Acess Dead Web Pages: Wayback, Google Cache and More

The Web is changing constantly, and sometimes that page that had just the information you needed yesterday (or last month or two years ago) is not available today. Sometimes the webpage that you would like to view is not available, or has been changed and the information that you need has been removed.

There are several sources for finding Web pages as they used to exist. :-D
The Google Cache is probably the best known for cached pages. To acess cached version of a website through google, just type “cache:” in the Google search box (or click on the “Cached” link that follows a Google search result.

Another good option is to use The Wayback Machine. The Wayback Machine provide multiple copies of pages and cached version of pages available from late 1996 to six to ten months ago.

This is the index page of google as cached by Wayback Machine on December 02,1998 (Source)

There also some speciality sites that mirror particular and fast updating sites and their links. For example, MirrorDot caches the content and first links of SlashDot and DuggMirror does that for Digg.

If wayback machine is down what other sources do I have for searching for old content. For example I want to know what a particular site said in Sept of 2004 and then in Sept of 1999. Any suggestions?
