
Google News Archives service released today lets you search across historical newspapers and magazines from 1754 to present. There are more than 120 million stories in the archives search index [”the” between 1754 to 2006]
News Sources range from free news articles on ad-supported sites such as Time Warner Inc.’s Time.com and The Guardian or snippets of articles available for a fee or via subscription, from newspapers like The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.

This is definitely cool. I picture a day when my daughter will ask me, “Daddy, you really used to look up articles on microfiche’? And you used to use encyclopedias too? How barbaric!”
