
Google has finally acquired Youtube for $1.65 billion. Both companies have approved the deal, which should officially close in the fourth quarter.
The deal presented Google with a difficult choice: Integrate YouTube into Google and risk losing one of the hottest brands on the Internet, or leave YouTube independent and risk diluting its own powerful brand?
For now, anyway, Google says Youtube will retain its distinct brand identity and its 65 employees will remain with the company at YouTube’s San Bruno headquarters.
