Pluck RSS Reader to Shutdown

Posted by admin in Internet, Tech News,... | 10.28.2006 - 11:48 pm

pluckAll versions of Pluck’s RSS readers for Internet Explorer, FireFox and Pluck’s web edition will be discontinued on 1/5/2007.

You have until 1/5/2007 to export your data, after which our servers will be turned off and your data will be deleted. Note that the Pluck RSS readers are not supported for use on the new releases of IE (version 7) and FireFox (version 2)- Source

This news came as a surprise to many because Microsoft is integrating RSS into Outlook next year, Google probably will have Gmail integration soon, and Yahoo has MyYahoo and Yahoo Mail for feeds. Web marketing experts say that with the growing reach of Web 2.0, this is the last move they would make.

On the contrary, that’s EXACTLY the right move to make. (Who are these “web marketing experts” you refer to, btw?)

See the opposite point of view, with both examples and analysis to back it up, at EUCAP — http://blog.eucap.com/innovation/innovation_fighting_accelerated_depreciation_for_i.html.

The article you mentioned cites example of Kiko a web calendar application, its the first time i am hearing about that service.

Also the articles says Pluck has been wiped out by Microsoft’s new browser, IE7, which has an RSS reader built in.

I don’t agree, pluck online reader was more popular than other version’s of Pluck reader.
