There are number of people having questions about this claime:

    2. When visitors login on Wordpress for their accounti, automatically they login SMF account. Also logout function like this.

Does this really work or how?

    Thanks.

you said when visitors register on Wordpress, automatically they register on SMF.. and if they login to wp they will login to the forum as well. and yes it works for me.

unfortunately when visitors register to SMF ..they didn’t register to wordpress automatucally. do you consider to resolve this problem??

I would not consider this much of a problem on my site due to the fact that they probably would never go to my forum without first having registered on my wordpress site first. I guess it could be an issue at a later date as my forum gets indexed more on google and people get there from google without having gone to the wordpress homepage. Maybe I could put a BIG link to my wordpress registration on the forum so people are likely to use it first.

You could deactivate the registration form in SMF and/or replace it with a link to the WP registration.

Is this plugin 100% working now with the latest versions of SMF and Wordpress? If so it is definately something I will be using :)

Good plug-in and all, but someone really needs to develop the holy grail of Wordpress + SMF integration… Integrated comments system for WP posts.

    Here’s the dream:
    - Create a forum under PHPBB called “News”
    - Restrict access so that no one else can create new threads here, but they CAN respond to threads
    - You post an article to your WP blog normally. All your WordPress RSS feeds, widgets, plugins and what not work their magic undisturbed.
    - It AUTOMATICALLY creates a new thread under the “News” forum with a copy of the title and content of your blog post.
    - It adds a “comment” link in the WP blog template that points directly to reply to this thread

I’ve seen a bridge like this for vBulletin, and I think one may exist for Invision Power Board too… but both of these are pay forum solutions (~$150+), where’s the open source community working on the free forum software (SMF, PHPBB, etc.)?

Even if it’s not free, I’d much rather pay $30 to the guy that creates the bridge than $160 to vBulletin for a forum that imho isn’t really any better than the free ones.

This bridge is no longer supported and is said to screw up your wordpress database now!

Just wanted to say hi to all…

I’ve been very busy and unable to maintain the bridge. I was hoping to put work into it over Christmas, but I’ve just been informed by SMF that they have some copyright concerns (as they are not GPL). Unfortunately, I’m not sure that it’s in my best interest to keep developing/distributing this. For my own site, I switched to a GPL-licenced bulletin board system that had bridging capabilities with wordpress. I wasn’t happy about this, as SMF is a superior platform.

Anyway, best wishes all. If people are interested in further developing it, they’re more than welcome.

    cheers,

    Jeff”
