Spikethevote is a service whose stated mission is to game Digg. The website, as they say is Finally, a bulletproof way to cheat Digg.
Spike the Vote works on a point system. Each day they give you a mission with several stories to Digg. 20% of your mission involves digging stories submitted by users in this community, while 80% of of your mission is completely random. This is to eliminate footprints and keep things anonymous. Spikethevote can game netscape and del.icio.us too.
You earn 1 point for each story Dugg. Once you earn enough points, you can trade them in for Diggs on your own stories.
EXAMPLE: Lets say there’s a guy named Fred who’s built up 250 points on this site by simply digging the stories in his daily mission. 5 points is worth 1 Digg, so now Fred has the option to cash in his 250 points for 50 Diggs.
The registration on spikethevote is open, but the website says that community will start functioning only after it grows over 1000 members. The website is up from such a long time and they have not yet got 1000 members, it seems unrealistic.
Spikethevote can even be some type of elaborate spoof/prank/hoax to mock the Web 2.0 social networking web sites. Some people even said that It’s an attempt to game the gamers - either by Digg itself, or by someone else.
