What’s up Google ?

Posted by admin in Announcements, Inter... | 12.29.2006 - 4:25 am

google logo1. Google’s list of most popular queries in their search engine published as the annual Zeitgeist received critisicm because it included some fairly unlikely terms. “Bebo” for example, was the number one term on the list.

The list was descibed by bloggers as misleading and totally meaningless.

2. Yesterday TechCrunch reported that nearly 60 Gmail users discovered that their inbox had been partially or completely wiped out. It was not just the inbox, but the complete account including Contacts, Sent Mail and Folders. Users have started talking over this issue on GMail Help Group

3. Techcrunch today reported that Google’s Orkut social network, has been down for the last thirteen hours.

4. Boing Boing reports that a number of bloggers who cover topics related to human sexuality say they’ve suddenly disappeared (or at least been deeply demoted) in Google search results. Popular “indie” blogs that deal with nonfiction sex ed or indie alt-erotica fare (Tiny Nibbles, Comstock Films, ErosBlog, and others) have suddenly vanished to much lower ranking in relevant search results.

What’s up, Google ?
