mobile-grayscaleBack in 2002 Dr. Christopher Newman, a neurologist from Baltimore, sued his cell phone company for $800 million as damages claiming it responsible for his brain tumour.

He cited a study by a Swedish cancer specialist, Dr. Lennart Hardell who claimed that analogue (but not digital) cell phone users are 26 per cent more likely to develop brain tumours than non-users.

Do cell phones cause cancer? Many people would like to know the answer to the question.

The previous cellphone-cancer link was based on several short-term studies, But a recent huge study from Denmark offers the latest reassurance that cellphones don’t trigger cancer.

Danish Scientists tracked 420,000 Danish cellphone users, including 52,000 who had gabbed on the gadgets for 10 years or more, and some who started using them 21 years ago.

They matched phone records to the famed Danish Cancer Registry that records every citizen who gets the disease — and reported Tuesday that cell-phone callers are no more likely than anyone else to suffer a range of cancer types.
