Wikia Launches Openserving

Jimmy Wales, The founder of online encyclopaedia Wikipedia has launched a new service named Openserving offering free tools for people who want to build community websites.

The service willl go live shortly and will host services such as blogs, social networking or other Web 2.0-like content that promotes interaction.

Openserving will offer software, storage and network access and website creators can keep 100% advertising revenue.

All the users will be able to writie articles and vote for their favorites. Comments can also be rated using a thumbs up or thumbs down icon, and RSS feeds can be imported to create more fresh content.

The service is in waiting mode and will expand in the future, hosting lots of freely-licensed software packages - perhaps including WordPress and Drupal- with a single password across all the sites.
