Wordpress guys have ported the Drupal Garland theme to wordpress hence making the Drupal community unhappy.
Garland theme will be the new default core theme for Drupal 5.0 and is an open source theme released under GPL licence.
Before porting the theme to wordpress. Bryan Veloso asked Steven Writtens for permission to port Garland theme to Wordpress.
Steven urged the wordpress guys to wait until Drupal 5.0 is released.
Garland is going to be the new face of Drupal and if website visitors keep seeing the same design on multiple sites, they might start to wonder what CMS is running behind it.
Steven never got any reply from wordpress, until someone sent him the link to the Wordpress.com announcement saying the ported version of Garland theme is available to Wordpress.com users.
Matt and others are being targeted saying that they were aiming for commercial wellbeing of wordpress.com rather than a good working relationship to other Open Source contributors.
Matt has offered the option to hold back the theme until Drupal 5.0 is officialy released.
