I'm using PHP3, recently moved from v2 and I must say that I really love it. A good friend of mine recently purchased VBulletin and honestly, PHP3 has nothing to envy Vbulletin and it is free. So far I feel safer and more stable with this new version.

Definetly worth the try.

vBulletin is in no ways better IMHO. I have phpBB3 RC7 and I love it! There is lots of modifications to add after, so you can make phpBB better than vBulletin. About the released date, there is no actual release date, even the creators don't know, but I think it will be soon. phpBB3 RC7 works fine.

Need computer help, come along to here: www.thecomputerforumz.com

I guess PHPBB3 final release would have little bug... PHPBB3 has taken longest development cycle with lot of public beta release compared with other ver 1 and 2.

Vbulletin is more secure than phpBB, but phpbb is free.

i am using phpBB on a forum and will switch to vbulletin if i get few hundred members.

Its not viable to buy vbulletin license for inactive forums.

Is there such a thing as a stable version of phpBB?

I used to use this for all my forums, but the number of bugs esp. security related left a bad taste in my mouth.
