Flatpress

FlatPress software in development is an alternative to the full version of WordPress.

The main difference between WordPress and FlatPress is that FlatPress does not require MySQL in order to work and will store data in text files called “flat files”

Flatpress will work with WordPress Plugins and Themes including Akismet, the comment spam fighter. It will also work with permalinks, and other normal WordPress features.

Habari

Habari is a new blogging engine which is said to be fast, easy to use, and easy to modify. Unlike other blog software currently on the market, Habari will be using more current technologies like object oriented programming techniques.

Michael Heilemann, Owen Winkler, Khaled Abou Alfa, Chris J Davis, Scott Merrill and Rich Bowen are just some of the names that have already been added to the roster of developers, designers, and testers.

You might recognize many of the names as people who have been heavily involved with WordPress for some time.
