Gmail is now a public beta in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Brazil, Australia, Russia and Japan, Users from these regions can now freely sign up to Gmail.
You need to open http://mail.google.com/mail/signup to create your free gmail account.
Users from othe regions can always acess the webpage from behind a proxy or by using Opera Mini.
