Most smart webmasters know that images can drive in good search engine traffic but very few webmasters know that image attributes can be useful to boost your blog SEO.
Google and some other SE’s use the alt tag in the same way they use the body text to rank your blog in search engine result pages.
See this article on Problogger which states how google’s spidering bots also take a look at the code you use in your image files to rank your webpages.
Recently i came across SEO Alt Tag Optimizer WordPress plugin that make it easy for wordpress users to use Image Alt tags in improving search engine rankings.
This plugin embeds three different images on every page of your WordPress site with image alt tags stuffed with the combination of the following.
- Wordpress Site’s Name
- Wordpress Site’s Description
- Wordpress Page’s Title (if you are on homepage, category page or archives page)
- WordPress Post’s Title (if you are on a single post page)
- The Ultimate Tag Warrior (UTW) tag name when on a UTW tag page
I know no blog author would like to add 3 useless images to blog pages, just for the sake of SEO
But the uniqueness of this plugin is that this plugin adds 3 small icons in your blog sidebar or footer, the icons can be clicked by your web site visitors to change website font size.
This assists any visitor with any accessibility difficulties to read your web site without having to change their own browser’s viewing settings and at the same time you get SEO benefits.
You can see a preview and download this plugin from here.
