FTPDrive is a cool windows utility that allow you to mount an FTP Server as a local hard-disk drive in Windows.
With FTPDrive you can view directories in windows folder structure and can work on the files using most windows applications. FTPDrive can work under Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista. You can Download FTP Drive v3.5 from here.
We can also mount a FTP server in Windows without using FTPDrive or any other software.
Here is how to do this:
1. Open an explorer window or any windows folder.
2. Select Tools and Map Network Drive from the Menu.
3. Check the reconnect at logon box if you want the ftp to be available every time you log into windows.
4. Now click on Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server, Hit Next and wait. In the next prompt select Choose another network connection and click Next again.
5. In the text box enter your FTP server address For example, ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/. Uncheck Log on Anonymously in the Next prompt and provide the username to your ftp.
6. Enter a name for the connection, click Next and finally click Finish.
7. Enter your password, Select Log on and the and the ftp connection will be opened.
But this method make the FTP server accessible as a local folder in My Network places while the FTP Drive utility mount the FTP server as a new drive which will be visible only when the FTP Drive software is running.
