I am also on dreamhost and upgraded from Wordpress 2.2.2 in following steps: 1. Downloaded the <a href="http://wordpress.org/latest.zip" rel="nofollow">latest wordpress zip file</a>. 2. Unzipped the wordpress.zip to a local folder. 3. Opened <a href="http://trac.wordpress.org/changeset?old_path=tags%2F2.2.2&old=6063&new_path=tags%2F2.2.3&new=6063" rel="nofollow">this list</a> of changed files in Wordpress 2.2.3 in Browser . 4. Deleted all the unchanged files from the local WordPress folder. 5. Uploaded the remaining files via FTP. I don’t recommend using dreamhost one click install for because it may overwrite your wp-content folder.
