The beauty of the Star Wars marketing scheme, from the point of view of George Lucas’s bankroll, is that you can put a Star Wars logo on just about anything and yes, it will sell. Back in the day it used to be Star Trek, but now Star Wars will sell absolutely anything. When you combine Star Wars logos with a technological gadget, bam, even better chance of moving it off the shelves. Most Star Wars fans are die hard enough as well to not think too much about the price tag, another coo for Lucas. This time it’s a Star Wars MP3 player, and that’s really all it is. Nothing fancy about this one other than it offers plenty of geek appeal to the Star Wars fanatic. Darth Vader is emblazoned on the front as well. The specs as well aren’t much to brag about with only 512 MB and some radio function, nothing you can’t find in another MP3 player. Am wondering why Lucas wouldn’t partner with Apple and create something in an iPod way, but my guess is he wanted the $$ all to himself. And as you can guess, these things are not easy to find and are flying off the shelves. You can check around at Amazon or through their distributor of IMC Toys if they really appeal to your geek like sensitivities.
