Great news if you have not heard. The new iPhone 2.0 software will work for corporate users to sync there exchange mail with their iPhone!!! Coming June 2008! It will be a free update for all iPhone Users. All you business users can celebrate!

Apple licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft and is building it right into the iPhone, so that iPhone will connect out-of-the-box to Microsoft Exchange Servers 2003 and 2007 for secure over-the-air push email, contacts, calendars and global address lists. Built-in Exchange ActiveSync support also enables security features such as remote wipe, password policies and auto-discovery.

The iPhone 2.0 software supports Cisco IPsec VPN to ensure the highest level of IP-based encryption available for transmission of sensitive corporate data, as well as the ability to authenticate using digital certificates or password-based, multi-factor authentication. The addition of WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1x authentication enables enterprise customers to deploy iPhone and iPod touch with the latest standards for protection of Wi-Fi networks.

Google Earth Upgrade for Mac

Google released an updated beta version of Google Earth 4 for Mac OS X (and some other platforms).

The new release includes a number of neat new features and enhancements:

  • 3D models now load more quickly and more realistically
  • Paths and polygons: a very cool advanced feature is now in the FREE version.
  • Improved caching of models
  • Support for compressed textures
  • New icons and icon management for easier navigation

Zune Launched in the US

zune-1Microsoft’s Zune music player has gone on sale in the US. The first reviews of the player have been mixed - praising some features, and criticising others. The Zune is only available in the US there is only one 30GB model - in three colours.

According to user reviews zune just sound as good as the iPod but it can’t touch the iPod’s looks or coolness.

FEATURES:
Zune 30GB model - $249
3-inch screen (320*240 pixels)
FM radio
Songs cost 99 cents or unlimited subscription for $15 a month
Two million songs on offer
Wirelessly share songs with other Zune users
Registered guests can swap songs via a PC

In a survey of almost 1,000 high school students, who planned to buy an MP3 player in the next year, 76 percent planned to buy an iPod. The survey was conducted after Microsoft announced its plans for Zune and before the company began television, print and outdoor ads- Bloomberg

The unique selling point of the Zune is the ability to wirelessly connect to other Zune users to share songs - one song can be shared three times and will only be stored on another Zune for up to three days.

Google Launches Mac Blog

Google today launched Official Google Mac Blog targeting the Apple Mac user base. A place to get all the news, tips, and insider stories about Macs at Google.
Also they updated Google Mac Homepage which now contains all Google software for Mac in one place. The webpage contains links to all useful google applications available for Mac, like Google Notifier, Google Earth, Google Sketchup, etc.
